Five Things I've Learned...

1.) Have a Positive Mind Set!

I have not always been the one to look at the glass half full. Through learning experiences, circumstances I have faced, and seeing the struggles everyone goes through, my mindset has completely changed. I strongly believe that if you smile, your day will be a lot brighter. If you laugh, you will be a much more effective individual. Forget about what you might not be the best at and focus on your strengths! Take time to appreciate all the good things that you have and be thankful for them! Having a positive attitude may not change your circumstances but it will change the way you look at them!

2.) Admire the little things

Every night, I try to make an effort to write down some things that made the day special or unique. Sometimes just a simple walk in the park or giving someone I love a hug can be the highlight of my day. Being cognizant of all life's simple pleasures has truly made me a happier person. I like to find beauty in all things. No matter if it is a person, place, or thing, I will find something wonderful about it. I encourage you to keep a journal by your bed and reminisce on your day. Seeing it written down makes me appreciate each day for simply what it is.

3.) Pursue your passions

What motivates you? What inspires you? The answers to these questions are what you should be working towards! Pursuing your passions will ultimately bring you the most fulfillment in life. I have always wanted to be a teacher! Even though I know it is not the highest paying career, I know that it is what will make me the happiest. It is important to do what you love!

4.) Never be afraid to fail

There are so many instances where I chose not to do something because I was afraid I wouldn't be good at it. I regret not taking the risk and trying! You cannot grow if you are not willing to face challenges. Staying in your comfort zone is boring! Always embrace new things and try something new! You never know what you are missing until you try!
5.) Be comfortable in your own skin!

We all have a list of things we wish we could change about ourselves! From our shape or size or freckles, there is always something we can find to dislike! It is so easy to focus on our flaws. It is actually very difficult to focus on the good things. Take time to think about the things that make you unique. These are the things that make you beautiful!

For the Love of Learning

Ever since I can remember, I have always had a true passion to learn! From listening to language learning cassettes while traveling to keeping a dictionary on my night stand, I always enjoy learning and growing more knowledgable. This is exactly what led me to realize that a career in Education would be perfect for me! It is truly a gift  to watch and see others learn. To be a part of a child's learning experience means the absolute world to me. Because I am so blessed to be pursuing a career that will allow me to do just that, I want to be the best teacher I can be. I strongly desire to be an asset in the classroom and to help positively impact the lives of every young individual I meet. Fortunately, every school year increased my love for learning and I want to give that same gift to children. Every day they come in to the classroom, I want them to feel welcomed, loved, appreciated, and most importantly, respected. Every child has a unique gift that will one day shape his or her future. I want to be a teacher who helps students find their gifts and to also help them pursue their dreams. Becoming a teacher will be such a rewarding and fulfilling career and I cannot wait to start!

First Day!

Today is my first day taking Instructional technology. I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the technology overload! I feel like it is going to take me a while to get used to working on the blog and webpage. I love learning how to use these helpful tools, but hope that it will become easier for me as time goes on.

I am really hoping to become more technologically savvy so I can be more like my hip, up-to-date friends. I feel like a dinosaur when I hear my everyone talking about "the cloud!" What is the cloud??! All that I know is that my head is in the clouds and maybe this class will pull me back down to this techy, electronic world.
