Learn to Grow

Before beginning this class, I honestly thought it would be a breeze! I thought we would do a few power points, maybe some word documents and talk about how we can use technology in the classroom. After spending several weeks in this course, my initial thoughts could not have been more wrong! I admit, it was not an easy class and at several points, I thought I was going to rip my hair out! The hard work did pay off. I feel so much more confident with using technology than ever before! Professor Ross challenged us to work far beyond our comfort levels so that we could learn effectively. I am grateful for this learning experience. I will take these new skills and apply them in the future! Thank you Professor Ross for being a great teacher!

SMART Board

The Smart Board operates as part of a system that includes an interactive whiteboard, a computer, a projector and whiteboard software. The components are connected wirelessly or through a USB or serial cables. A projector connected to the computer displays the desktop image on the interactive whiteboard. The whiteboard accepts touch input from a finger, pen or other solid object.

The Smart Board is great for teachers because it allows them to integrate videos, images, and websites into their lessons. Today, more and more schools are using Smart Boards as a tool to engage learners in a compelling an interactive way.

In class, we designed lesson plans that we could use on a Smart Board.

After working a bit with the Smart Board I personally believe it is a beneficial tool for the classroom. There are so many different things you can do with it. The learning possibilities are endless!
